I received my Bachelor of Music
in Piano Performance from California State University, Northridge. During
my studies, I received numerous awards and scholarships. Among them were
the Old Town Music Store Scholarship and the Pasadena Women’s Club
Scholarship. In addition, I have performed in master classes of well-renowned
professors such as Jerome Lowenthal and James Bonn. I have extensive
experience in the teaching field and in collaborative performing works,
such as chamber music and accompaniment. As a classically trained piano
instructor, my
main goal is to establish a strong foundation in theory, technique, sight-reading
and repertoire in each of my students.
Items of Interest
- I am an active member of the Music Teachers' Association
of California (MTAC).
- I have over 10 years of teaching experience, primarily
focusing on beginning through early advanced piano students of all ages.
- All
of my students consistently pass the CM examinations (Certificate
of Merit) with high scores and the majority of them are usually selected
for the branch honors and state convention recitals. I also strongly encourage my students to participate in variety of music festivals and competitions.
- The materials I use include "The Russian School of
Piano Playing" and the "Piano Repertoire Series" by Keith Snell, as well as Feber and Schaum. Although
these are the main method books that I use with beginning piano students,
I’m
very flexible in picking out pieces from other books that I think will
suit the student better and enhance their musical and technical skills.
